Airbnb hosts in the United Kingdom have steadily received passive income, which has enabled them to meet mortgage payments and inflation, among other things. According to Airbnb, an average host in the United Kingdom earned more than £3,500 over the summer of 2022 alone.
Airbnb can surely make a lot of money in the UK. Indeed, Airbnb News recently verified that a typical host in the UK may make more than £6,000 per night. Because of growing inflation, more than a third of Airbnb hosts rely on hosting to cover rising living expenses.
But how much profit can hosts make on Airbnb in the United Kingdom? According to Airbtics’ data, hosts in the UK may expect to earn an average daily rent of £173 and have a 55% occupancy rate.
A huge new poll of over 10,000 UK Airbnb Hosts and guests reveals, for the first time, how the cost of living problem is encouraging individuals to become Airbnb Hosts. More than a third of Hosts in the UK say they host to offset growing living costs, and nearly a third say the extra revenue helps them make ends meet.
The average UK Host makes just over £6,000 by renting out their room on Airbnb, which is comparable to two months’ extra salary for the average UK household. The great majority of Hosts are ordinary people, with four out of every five UK Hosts sharing only one listing. One in every five UK Hosts works in education, healthcare, or hospitality. Almost two-thirds are women, and one in every five is over 60.
According to the poll, increased living costs are also driving visitors to seek more economical family vacation on Airbnb. Almost half of visitors say booking on Airbnb saved them money, and a quarter say they picked Airbnb over other forms of housing particularly to save money.
Aside from being more economical, one in every five visitors claimed Airbnb provided a more local vacation experience. Over a third said their Airbnb listing allowed them to explore an area they would not have gone otherwise, and more than half said they followed their Host’s advice of a local company or destination to visit. This spreads visitors and advantages beyond hotel areas to local families and communities. Oxford Economics’ 2020 study on the impact of tourism on Airbnb in communities discovered that for every 1,000 Airbnb guests that came, five local jobs were supported on averaGRE.
